Congratulations to our three 2017 FCPS Partner Award winners!  The awards for FCPS Business, Community and Workforce Development Partner of the Year were announced and presented live during the Superintendent’s Luncheon held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner.

Navy Federal Credit Union was named 2017 Business Partner of the Year for providing extensive volunteer and financial support for over 28 years to Thoreau Middle School.  Navy Federal provides an Annual Kick-off event to welcome new seventh graders to Thoreau, mentors and quarterly student recognition programs.

The Workforce Development Partner Award was added this year as a way to recognize area organizations working with FCPS to develop the future workforce.  The inaugural FCPS Workforce Development Partner award was presented to Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. MWAA provides paid, on-the-job training to FCPS students who are part of the Secondary Transition to Employment Program at Chantilly High School. Students are taught  upholstery repair, key-making and landscaping at the Dulles Airport facility.

The 2017 Community Partner of the Year was awarded to Food for Others.  Since 2012, Food for Others’ PowerPack Program provides weekend food bags regularly at 29 FCPS schools.  Last school year, an average of 1,980 students were served every week.  FCPS staff members also turn to Food for Others as a resource for emergency food assistance.
